About the Owner: Dr. John Weigand
Professor of Music (retired), Virginia Commonwealth University — Past President, International Clarinet Association
Dr. Weigand is an expert in the design and alteration of clarinet mouthpieces and has done mouthpiece alteration for clarinetists in major symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. He also is nationally renowned for clarinet reedmaking, and teaches this skill to his WVU clarinet students as well as professional colleagues.
Dr. Weigand holds degrees in music from The Florida State University, Northwestern University and Oberlin Conservatory, and his principal teachers include Robert Marcellus, Fred Ormand, Lawrence McDonald, Keith Stein, and Kent Krive. He has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, Greensboro Symphony and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and he has presented recitals and master classes at major universities and conservatories in the United States and Canada.
